Host universities assume responsibility to fund Biocenter Finland / Biokeskusyliopistot jatkavat Biokeskus Suomen rahoitusta
Earmarked funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM) ends at the end of 2012, but BF activities will continue in 2013-2016 under direct funding from the six host universities. In 2013 this support will be directed primarily towards salaries of key personnel in the technology services.
The decision by the Board of BF has been forwarded to the rectors of host universities. As the final decisions on the funding level will be made in the host universities, directors of biocenters will inform the technology services as soon as information becomes available.
Final evaluation of BF activities in 2010-2012 by the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) will take place in spring/early summer 2013. This will be combined with evaluation of applications for new and current technology platforms for 2014-2016. The SAB will visit Finland in early June; the tentative dates for hearings are June 10-11, 2013.
Another important event in 2013 for all BF infrastructure networks and technology platforms is the update of the national infrastructure roadmap. This task will be organized by the expert group on research infrastructures (FIRI expert group) appointed by the Academy of Finland. The roadmap exercise will be launched in a seminar on Nov 7, 2012.
Rectors of host universities have agreed that University of Helsinki will continue as the coordinating university of BF. Our little coordination office will continue in the Viikki campus, where we will be relocated to a smaller office by the end of the year.
Biokeskusyliopistot jatkavat Biokeskus Suomen rahoitusta
OKM:n korvamerkitty rahoitus Biokeskus Suomelle (BF:lle) päättyy vuoden 2012 lopussa, mutta BF:n toiminta jatkuu vuosina 2013-2016 isäntäyliopistojen rahoituksella. Vuosi 2013 tulee olemaan ylimenokausi, jonka aikana yliopistojen tuki BF:n toimintaan kohdennetaan ensisijaisesti teknologiapalveluiden toiminnan kannalta keskeisen henkilökunnan palkkaamiseen. BF:n johtoryhmä on tehnyt tätä koskevat rahoitusesitykset biokeskusyliopistojen rehtoreille. Lopulliset vuotta 2013 koskevat päätökset tehdään siis isäntäyliopistoissa ja biokeskusten johtajat tiedottavat näistä päätöksistä mahdollisimman nopealla aikataululla.
Biokeskus Suomen vuosien 2010-2012 toiminnan loppuarviointi toteutetaan kevään ja alkukesän 2013 aikana. Samassa yhteydessä suoritetaan myös teknologiapalveluiden uusien ja jatkohakemusten arviointi kaudelle 2014-2016. Alustavan aikataulun mukaisesti arvioijat vierailevat Suomessa 10.-11.6.2013, jolloin järjestetään arviointia koskevat kuulemistilaisuudet.
Toinen tärkeä Biokeskus Suomea koskeva tapahtuma vuonna 2013 on kansallisen tutkimusinfrastruktuurien tiekartan päivittäminen. Sen toteuttaa Suomen Akatemian tutkimusinfrastruktuurien (FIRI-) asiantuntijaryhmä. Tiekarttahankkeen aloitusseminaari pidetään 7.11.2012.
Yliopistojen rehtorit ovat sopineet, että Biokeskus Suomen koordinaatioyliopistona jatkaa Helsingin yliopisto. Koordinaatiotoimisto jatkaa Viikin kampuksella, jossa siirrymme vuoden vaihteessa pienempiin tiloihin.
