Millennium Talks Workshop – Asking More from Research

The Millennium Talks Workshop was co-organized by Biocenter Finland and Technology Academy Finland and supported by the Institut Francais de Finlande, the Embassy of France in Finland and the Aalto University. Keynote speakers included Professors Emmanuelle Charpentier, one of the inventors of the CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing technology, and Frances Arnold winner of the Millennium Technology Prize. The workshop discussed how technologies emanating from frontier research can be taken advantage of in industry, clinical care and in research in Finland. The workshop promoted a mind-set change amongst academic researchers, to acknowledge the importance of wider impact for society of findings of fundamental research.

The event took place on May 17-18 at the Aalto University School of Business.
